Pose estimation with video analytics: A tribute to Tina Turner
Rock ‘n’ Roll icon Tina Turner died this week. And, being a computer vision software development company, we at VisualCortex wanted to pay tribute in a unique way: By creating a homage to Turner and her iconic song, Nutbush City Limits, using pose estimation with video analytics.
Check out the video here (sound on!):
As an Australian-headquartered company, Tina Turner meant something special to us. What’s not widely known outside of Australia is that the 83-year-old created two enduring cultural anomalies in our country:
1. She helped save our floundering national sport of Rugby League
2. The Nutbush cemented an ‘undimmed’ and unexplained place on Australian dance floors – a fact that remains true to this day
So infatuated are Australians with the Nutbush, we created our own set of dance steps to the tune (that’s where the video comes in!). So much so, that the land ‘Down Under’ has set several world records for the most number of people simultaneously participating in our choreographed Nutbush City Limits dance routine (to be fair, competition for the mantle outside our shores is… limited).
It’s a record that Birdsville’s Big Red Bash music festival plans to beat later this year.
